Bosu Digg

The "Daily Standard" was a routine that I performed daily, as a minimum level of exercise, for several months.  At the time I was interested in getting back into tip-top shape, and the Daily Standard helped me do this.

The key to these exercises is in learning to move the body most efficiently.  With the BGDGU - BOSU Get Down, Get Up - you want to find the ideal ratio of hip, knee, and ankle flexion.  You want to take as much pressure out of the knees as possible during this movement.  When you practice the BGDGU, you essentially learn to control your body's fall down to the BOSU Ball.  On the "get up" phase, you want to "snap" your hips into flexion to "send" your body up into the squat.  You want to contract your hip flexors and abs rapidly on the send up.

The Down Dog Flow to Press is a study in movement on all 4's.  You want to flow through the movement and find the correct timing and placement of your hands, knees, and feet.  On the press phase you really want to emphasis opposite hand and knee.  In other words, when your left knee is on the BOSU Ball, your right hand is primarily engaged in the press (left hand supports only what is necessary).  And vice versa.  Be sure to breathe through your nose and relax your face!  (In the Membership Area of the site I insist you relax your face and breathe through your nose when you train with me).

The Standing Balance is all about connecting your body's energy to your breathing.  You elevate or rise up with the inhale and sink your energy down with the exhale.  Standing on the BOSU Ball makes you focus and tilting your head increases the demands to this exercise significantly.

Have fun with these movements and don't rush through it when you do them.
