What is BOSU?

BOSU is...

BOSU stands for "Both Sides Up" or "Both Sides Utilized" depending upon whether you are talking about the BOSU Balance Trainer (the product) or BOSU (the philosophical approach to exercise).

The essence of BOSU, (the philosophical approach to exercise), is seeking better balance, in all aspects of life.  Training BOSU begins with your body.

The human body and brain are intimately linked such that enhancing balance in one enhances balance in the other.  Better balance (physically and mentally) leads to better performance in all activities, whether those activities are primarily physical or mental in nature.

Human structure and function dictate the principles of training BOSU.  The fundamental means of human locomotion (crawling, walking, running) all share a common movement pattern - Alternating Bilateral Symmetrical Rotation of the trunk, hips & shoulders, and arms & legs.  You are actually training BOSU with every step you take.

My favorite tool for training BOSU is a rope (an inexpensive jump rope will do).  The rope helps you put balance and symmetry in your hands - which educates the rest of your body and creates a massive "BOSU Effect".

The BOSU Effect is the performance boost you experience when both sides of your brain reach a heightened state of energetic balance.  The more you practice getting to this state, the easier it becomes.  The process of training BOSU also enhances movement capabilities better than any form of training I've experienced.

And the beautiful thing about training BOSU with a rope is it is NOT about jumping.  When you learn to use a rope the way I teach you - you will become very good at jumping it, but that is a "side" benefit as jumping is not the emphasis.

When you add the BOSU Balance Trainer to the equation, things get really interesting.  On top of the BOSU Ball is where I like to practice jumps.  Impact forces on the body are reduced and demands to balance increase.  Once you experience it, you're hooked because it feels good.

I've taught plenty of people in person how to do this.  Many of these people did not believe they could do it at first.  But breaking the exercise down into simple steps and progressing one step at a time gets most people there within THREE Workouts!

The power that comes from achieving something you genuinely did not think you could do is incredible.  What else becomes possible?

If you've read this far, you've already demonstrated a significant level of interest.  The next step is to start training BOSU for yourself.
